The New Back Yard and Front Flower Bed

Some of you have been asking to see our remodeled back yard now that it's all done. We finally got the lawn turf down last week. First we show you the garden in May and then in June.

Early May!

Now!

Tulips from Amsterdam - well, from Holland anyway! These are the best tulips I've ever seen in Canada, usually you're lucky if the stems get to be a foot long, these were nearly twice that and with huge heads.

And I just had to include this cute one of Arnold chasing a reflection from my watch.

Our Remodelled Home

Okay, I guess we'll start at the closest to the front door, which is the washroom. We took out the vanity, added wainscoting and new flooring and then a new washbasin and toilet.

This is the entry, of course, cos there's the front door, even that's remodelled. For those that don't know the house, that far door is the washroom (above). (Sssh! Don't say anything to Jean (mom) about me forgetting, before I take the photo, to take away the glass containers on the little table that she is returning to IKEA). Our next project is where you see that little TV on the wall we are planning to recess the wall and put in a 32 inch, but we can't quite decide how to make it inconspicuous! Any great ideas out there?
Some of you have seen the photos from Christmas of the living room complete with lovely new fireplace that we built and the new window above which we added.
The dining room - pretty straight forward.
The newly added pantry with the new spot for the fridge which used to be where you can just see the edge of the cabinet on the left side of the photo.
A straight on shot of the new kitchen. Perhaps you can just make out that we changed the left corner and made it straight across and then added a garage with glass doors. The island just has one chair for breakfast or chopping veggies and such. (If we both want to eat we have to go into the dining room and act like we're posh).
Ah yes, have to have at least one shot with momma strutting through her new abode with a gleam in her eye. She only had to wait three months.
The other side!
And the last one. I just wanted to show off the under cabinet lights we added. We're also planning above the cabinet lights but it will be another three months for that to get done!!That's all folks!

The Cruise - Towel Novelties

Each night, when we return to our room after supper, the bed is drawn back, there's a chocolate each on the pillow, and a cute novelty made from towels left to entertain us. It just makes the experience a little more special.

The Birthday Gal!

January 2nd is also Jean's birthday, so we had the chef make her a cake and our servers happily sang to her. The middle two are Menino and Dan. I wish we'd made a recording of Dan laughing, he was from Jamaica and had such a terrific and infectious laugh.

Mmmmmm! Chocolate!

Cruise - Day Four - St. Martin

January 2nd. Yes, Jean's birthday. This was our favourite island, but then we could only judge them by the towns and shops we visited.
Wish it warm and tropical in Strathmore in early January.
This little (2 foot) fellow was sunning himself at the side of the road.
And this little gal has found the best spot of all - on our little balcony.
This is this big fellows favourite spot of all.
